NAWBO-NYC SIGNATURE AWARD CATEGORIES

The determination, courage, perseverance and business acumen of our remarkable women business owners have enabled them to achieve success in their own unique 'signature'. Nominees are judged by conventional measures of business success (profitability, growth, etc.), as well as qualitative criteria, which vary depending on the award.

The award categories are as follow:

The Lifetime Achievment Award
The Master Award
The Promise Award
The Social Entrepreneur Award


The Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes women who best exemplify the commitment, determination and endurance it takes to create a successful, long-term business and who has succeeded in making her company a household name.


The Master Award
This award acknowledges the achievement of a woman who owns and operates a mature company, a company in business for a number of years that is financially stable with systems and procedures in place, yet continues to succeed by being constantly innovative — shifting her strategic focus, incorporating new technology, expanding her market, increasing her staff, etc.

The Promise Award
This award recognizes up to three women business owners whose businesses have the promise of breakthrough success based on innovation and progressive product and/or service plans.

The Social Entrepreneur Award
This award recognizes the innovation, resourcefulness and the successful impact made by a woman in the nonprofit sector who uses business methods to find practical solutions to social problems or needs related to her nonprofit organization.

I'm continually inspired and energized by the women – and men – who make up one of the city's most amazing professional organizations. I'm also in a pretty great position as managing editor of the print newsletter, as I get to "see" what's going on in peoples' lives, their businesses, and share their accomplishments
