TASHA NORMAN

Tasha Norman Founder/CEO of FitEngine Inc. is the publisher of Tendu Magazine, a free quarterly NYC Fitness and Wellness publication and online resource. Tendu Magazine also organizes and produces various Wellness and Fitness events throughout New York City.

Tasha is a graduate of Williams College with a degree in English. She toured the world as a professional dancer from the age of 9 to 18 and was a competition level Gymnast at the age of 11.

In the early 90’s Tasha joined the new business swat team of Young & Rubicam, NY advertising agency and as part of the agency’s renowned broadcast department, produced over 100 TV/Radio commercials worldwide. Within Y&R Advertising, Tasha co-founded the “Urban Reality Group”, a strategic marketing swat team that specialized in creating advertising/marketing/creative strategies for the urban consumer. She also produced and directed “What is Urban”, a short film documenting the lifestyles and attitudes of the multicultural urban youth in New York City.

In 2005 Tendu Magazine celebrated Fitness and Wellness in NYC by (1) honoring three of New York City’s top fitness professionals — Pilates legend Romana Kryzanowska, African Dancer Djoniba Mouflet, and Hip Hop expert Brian Green — at the ECA World Fitness Conference in NYC; (2) creating the first “Wellness and Fitness Information/Resource Center” for the “Live Well New York Expo” at the Jacob Javits Center.

Some of Tasha’s projects have included:

Founder of New York City’s annual celebration of National Dance Week (NDW-NYC).
Created New York City’s first all-day "Wellness Indulgence Festival" in July, 2004 at Union Square Park. This event received enormous media attention and coverage in The New York Times, New York Daily News, New York Post, Newsday, New York Sun, Metro, and AM-New York, plus attracted visits from NY Congressman Charles Rangel and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Teamed up with award winning writer and director Kelly Scott to co-produce “Echo Park: The Hip-Hop Musical” which played to sold-out audiences at the Apollo theatre.
Executive Producer of "Still Moving", a documentary illustrating the challenges faced by a Lower Manhattan modern dance studio during and after 9/11.
Tasha is a visionary and ideation specialist, with unique insights into developing creative ideas; a branding expert; and a fitness and wellness enthusiast. This combination has compelled many consumer-based businesses to consult her as their “impact player” and to use her advice on added-value marketing strategies.

Tasha’s insight and information on fitness and wellness consumer behavior is fast becoming a trusted resource. “I am producer at heart and my talent is to troubleshoot, listen, find answers, create value, stay on budget, exceed expectations, and deliver outstanding results without letting anyone see me sweat.” I was trained and mentored by some of the best producers in the country and when I’m asked the definition of success, my answer is what I’ve learned in the trenches: (1) achieving success using plan B or C when plan A is not an option. And, (2) asking the right questions.

NAWBO has not only been a source of business for me, but more importantly, a resource. As a graphic designer, I frequently partner up with others to complete projects for my clients. Since I joined NAWBO-NYC two years ago, I've had the pleasure of building great relationships with several members, and we have successfully completed client work together. I've found the women of NAWBO-NYC to be a wonderful and supportive sounding board for my business.
