In 1994 when I started my accounting and consulting practice, after 20 years in the corporate world with IBM in New York and Houston, I researched a number of women-in-business organizations to join. What differentiated NAWBO from the others, for me, was the public policy component of its mission statement transform public policy to influence decision makers. I still remember the connection I felt when hearing NAWBO members talk about how our daughters would benefit from NAWBOs advocacy work.
I have participated in NAWBO at both chapter and national levels and am very grateful for the chance to play a small part in assisting WBOs everywhere. I also do this work for my daughter and her girlfriends, as well as for all their yet-to be-born daughters, who, hopefully, will have opportunities rather than obstacles and a level playing field rather than a glass ceiling when they start their businesses.

NAWBO has not only been a source of business for me, but more importantly, a resource. As a graphic designer, I frequently partner up with others to complete projects for my clients. Since I joined NAWBO-NYC two years ago, I've had the pleasure of building great relationships with several members, and we have successfully completed client work together. I've found the women of NAWBO-NYC to be a wonderful and supportive sounding board for my business.
