Public Policy Breakfast

While we business owners get on with our business, federal, state, and local governments are getting on with theirs: passing laws, many of which concern small businesses in NYC. And not all bills have a positive effect on women-owned businesses. The more we know, the more we can become empowered to use our collective voice to speak out on our own behalf.
What We Do: Annually recommend to NAWBO-NYC a slate of public policy issues, with corresponding appropriate positions to endorse on each, for the organization to advocate for with elected and appointed officials.
Promote NAWBO-NYC as an informed and politically-skilled organization that is willing to work closely with elected and appointed officials to develop public policies as they pertain to or are relevant to business and economic development. Execute and manage NAWBO-NYCs annual City Council Breakfast; NAWBO-NYCs leadership participation in advocacy events and activities in Albany, the state capital; and NAWBO-NYCs participation in NAWBO National Public Policy Days, held annually in Washington, D.C. Educate the membership of NAWBO-NYC about public policy issues that are impacting their businesses now or will so in the near future. Inform NAWBO-NYCs membership about important advocacy events and activities to encourage their active participation.
What We Need: To strengthen our collective voice, we seek members who will:
Actively participate in the planning and execution of NAWBO-NYCs advocacy events and activities through active participation in monthly meetings. Take leadership of key issue areas, providing the committee with information, research and ideas with which NAWBO-NYCs advocacy positions and effective political strategies can be promulgated.
When and Where We Meet: Please contact VP Public Policy for more details.
