WST BUILDING TEAM RELATIONSHIP

How do I Build a Trusting Relationship
With My Team Partner?

Showing respect: It is crucial that team members show respect for each other and their ideas. This includes striving to give constructive (and not destructive) criticism at all times. Intimidation, being judgmental, and bad-mouthing are unacceptable.

Open-mindedness: One of the beauties of the WST Program is that it pairs people who may be in completely different industries. Participants should be open to listening to alternative suggestions and advice. Similarly, your team member should not simply rubber-stamp your decisions if she genuinely believes that you may not be acting in your best interests. Be open to having your feet held to the fire.

Curiosity: It is through our different experiences that we can truly learn and grow from each other. A curious peer will ask insightful questions and will truly care about “what makes my partner tick?”

Truthfulness: Rare is the business owner who never has a doubt, or a down moment, or a dry season (or two or three). Your integrity and honesty will enable you to get the most out of the program, and to receive the most helpful advice from your team member.

Commitment: Participants should be prepared to exchange the WST Commitment Agreement with their Women’s Success Teams Partners and to commit to staying with their team member for the duration of the pilot program. Any serious problems or obstacles to meeting this goal can be raised with the WST Program Committee.

Member's Comment
My membership has paid off in so many ways. The three Signature Awards Programs I designed helped bring in several new clients. And my involvement with updating the current NAWBO-NYC website has generated a major project and an office space for my company.
