WST HOW DOES IT WORK?

-- Why a Partner System?
-- Why Become A Part of the Women’s Success Teams Program?
-- Who in NAWBO-NYC Is Overseeing?
-- How Do I Get Involved?

Why a Partner System?
Partnering works because “two heads are better than one.” It has long been established that we learn and grow faster with someone else challenging us and expanding our perspective than we do alone. And often, it’s easier to have faith, courage, and good ideas for someone else than it is for ourselves — and vice versa. Partners also help us in some of the following ways:

Accountability: We often find excuses for falling off schedule, but once we have someone to answer to, we’re less likely to do so.

Empowerment: Partners bolster our energy so that we don’t feel we have to “go it alone” and constantly self-generate enthusiasm.

Understanding: As business owners, we often subject ourselves to higher standards than others. With a partner, we can be free to be human, sometimes lazy, sometimes depressed and still get things done.

Brainstorming: With a partner, we can learn and grow from shared ideas, experiences, contacts, materials, and skills to help us both meet our goals.

Why Become A Part of the
Women’s Success Teams Program?

  • Ideal for Women Business Owners: Managed by NAWBO-NYC, with its 20-year track record in assisting women business owners, the WST Program pays special attention to the needs of women in business.
  • Clear Guidelines: The WST Program provides an easy-to-follow and meaningful structure to help all participants stay on track — without needing to be a “peer-to-peer program expert.”
  • Regular Follow-Up: The WST Program includes monthly group meetings to help participants get the most out of the Program and the peer relationship.
  • Supportive Environment: The WST Program recognizes that women business owners welcome, and need, practical help and advice in running their businesses and creates a supportive environment where this can happen.
  • Sounding Board: Your team partner can be a sounding board and give you fresh perspective on issues such as: prioritizing goals, sounding out new ideas, getting a fresh perspective and new way to approach any situation, evaluating opportunities, diagnosing problems, planning a course of action, and encouraging you to achieve your very best.
  • Developed Based on What Works: The “Women’s Success Teams” (“WST”) program was derived using insights, samples and guides from various advisors, books, and common sense. The program will be refined, reviewed and customized based on the needs of the NAWBO-NYC membership.

How Do I Get Involved?
Time Frame for Pilot launch: WST Pilot program starts October 12, 2006 for 3 months. Insights, learning and refining will take place before full launch of program, in Spring 2007. Participation in the pilot program is limited. All potential participants will complete a questionnaire, which will help the WST Committee select participants and designate the team partners

Member's Comment
My membership has paid off in so many ways. The three Signature Awards Programs I designed helped bring in several new clients. And my involvement with updating the current NAWBO-NYC website has generated a major project and an office space for my company.
